Sofapaka head coach Sam Ssimbwa has promised to ‘walk’ away from his position if he fails to win any trophy with the team this year.

“Winning trophies is what I want. If I fail I go back to Uganda because two years in this team at least I want to get silverware. Wherever I have been travelling to I have gotten silverware. Here also, I want the same,” Ssimbwa is quoted by Capital Sport.

But the Ugandan tactician admitted that winning a trophy is not a walk in the park, arising from the ever present competition from other teams

“It is not easy because every team is coming in to fight for the title. Gor Mahia have a very strong team, AFC Leopards have also put together a very strong outfit. Tusker are there, Posta Rangers also, so it will not be easy. But we will fight. We are Batoto ba Mungu,” said the coach.

Sofapaka like the other 17 Premier League teams will be fighting for KPL and GOTV Shield trophies.

The Ugandan tactician re-joined Sofapaka at the beginning of last season, and helped them finish second in the league last season, behind Champions Gor Mahia.

He previously coached Sofapaka in 2009, and led the team to GOTV Shield title. Ssimbwa has coached over 10 teams in his coaching carrier spanning more than 10 years.

Sofapaka will open the 2018 league campaign against Bandari FC on the 4th of next month. The team won KPL title in 2009.
