Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua and his Vihiga counterpart Moses Akaranga today joined thousands of mourners attending the burial of the late TNA MCA Damaris Mbuthia.

Other leaders who attended the burial at Ol-Rongai near Kabarak were Nakuru County MCAs, led by county assembly speaker Susan Kihika. Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama and women rep Mary Mbugua were also in attendance.

MCA Wangare, who was born at Gathanji village in Kiambu on February 14 1968, succumbed to breast cancer on Saturday at a Nairobi hospital.

She attended Gathanji and St Marys Molo primary schools then Aldai secondary and Njoro Girls and sat her 'A' levels at Afraha high school. Her first teaching job was at Senior Chief Koinange high school, then Kapropita Girls, Bavuni secondary in Bahati constituency then Kenyatta and Nakuru Day secondary schools.

She joined active politics in in 2008 as a nominated councillor and was thereafter elected deputy mayor. She was nominated as an MCA last year by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA party. Mbuthia is survived by her only son Adrian Leshan who is in class eight.

Mbuthia was diagnosed with breast cancer in November last year and later admitted to Dharamshilla hospital in New Delhi in December. She returned home to continue with treatment at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi where she was admitted in the ICU on July 26 where she passed on.

She was 46.
