Elders from the Kalenjin community living in Nakuru have come out to defend sentiments made by Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui over the Uasin Gishu hawkers issue.

Addressing media in Nakuru, led by former Nakuru Gubernatorial candidate on Chama cha Mashinani Party Dr Peter Koros, the elders clarified that the sentiments made by Kinyanjui were misunderstood.

“Nakuru governor only made an appeal to his Uasin Gishu counterpart to take care of all the people living there just the same way he (Kinyanjui) does in Nakuru. He was misunderstood,” said Koros.

The elders called for peaceful co-existence.

“We are here to confirm that the leadership of governor Kinyanjui will work to ensure that no single community is sidelined,” Koros added.

Koros was flanked by former Nakuru councilor Joseph Ng’etich, former Municipal Council chair Charles Rono and Shadrack Kosgey.
