The county tabled Sh6.5 billion budget which is the highest ever from last year’s budget which stood at Sh5.9 billion.

A Nyamira based politician Victor Swanya claimed that the county government is spending too much prompting to the higher budget.

“Corruption in Nyamira County is at the peak something that has seen the county tabling high budget estimates. It is time the MCAs should consider spending less so that other funds can be used to fund development projects,” he said.

Swanya said powerful people in the county government may take advantage to embezzle the funds.

West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi Mogaka urged MCAs to ensure the funds are utilized well to develop the county.

“The County allocated Sh549 million on roads. We expect to see feeder roads under the county opened up and expanded to ease transportation. Bad roads must be a past tense in Nyamira this time round,” he said.

Kefah Moenga, who spoke on behalf of Manga youths, claimed that the county could have allocated more funds on the Gender department.

“Gender has only been allocated Sh153 million while the most corrupted health department was allocated over Sh1 billion. The County should consider increasing the money to the gender department,” he said.
