The youth led by Youth Development Forum chairman Denis Orioki said that leaders from the region should support the VC saying that he had done a recommendable job.

"The VC has commited his time serving the institution since it started with less than 200 students. He has done a lot for the university and for that reason it will be better if they let him go on serving," said Mr Orioki,

He said that a section of Kisii County workers led by Mr Naftal Obwocha should be ignored as they were only trying to use political reasons to throw the VC out of office.

"It is shameful that a section of opposition supporters have gone personal and are calling for the ouster of the VC

. We shall not seat down and see this happening," he said.

In the last election Prof Akama supported President Uhuru Kenyatta for his second term.
