Leaders across the country have joined the family of Governor John Nyagarama in mourning their son, Ndemo Nyagarama on Monday at Nairobi Hospital.
Apparently, the governor is also away in the US where he is undergoing treatment and has since handed over to his deputy Amos Nyaribo.
On Monday, Nyaribo broke the tragic news through a statement but did not give details with regard to the governor's itinerary henceforth.
"It is with deep regret I announce the death of Ndemo Nyagarama, the son to our beloved governor. I joined his family during this trying moment," read the statement.
Since then, a number of leaders have also mourned the deceased who has been termed as 'soft spoken and easy going'.
7:00am: County Secretary Eric Onchana terms the death as tragic and prays for the family of the governor during this trying moment.
7:05am: Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo says the burial arrangements shall be carried out by the county government and the exact date for burial will be announced at a later date. He also asked politicians to embrace cease fire during this mourning period.
7:12am: ODM party, through a tweet, publicly announces Mr. Ndemo Nyagarama's death. The party insists that it will stand with the family of the governor.
7:20am: ODM party lawyer Tony Moturi also joins the family of the ODM county boss in mourning. Describes the deceased as a dedicated member of the party.
9:00am: Former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire sends his condolences. He asks county leaders to stand with the governor's family at this trying moment.
9:30am: North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko sends his condolences. He describes the deceased as the true patriot who defended the county at all levels.
10:00am: ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale assures the ODM family that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will stand with Nyamira County following the passing on of Governor John Nyagarama's son.
10:16am: Nyamira County Women Representative Jerusha Momanyi says Mr. Ndemo Nyagarama's humility will be remembered forever. She recalls how the late persuaded her to join ODM party but all in vain.
10:25am: Seasoned politician Nyandoro Kambi says he had known the late throughout his life and recalled how he vigorously campaigned for him in Borabu constituency parliamentary elections.
12:00pm: Council of Governors chairman Josephat Nanok sends condolences on behalf of all governors in the country.
12:05pm: Besides suffering from acute meningitis, Nanok said, Ndemo Nyagarama suffered a cardiac arrest before his death on Monday evening.
12:10pm: A family source reveals that Governor John Nyagarama will be jetting back to the country next week and subsequently, the date for his son's burial shall be announced.
