On Friday, Maalim said that he has filed a strong appeal contesting the High court ruling.

The Wiper Party deputy leader asked Duale to brace himself for political battles.

“Duale should know that it is not yet over and he should stop celebrating and mocking me,” he said.

The former National Assembly deputy speaker maintained that Duale’s re-election was not a reflection and will of Garissa people.

Maalim asked his supporters not to lose hope telling them that justice will be served.

The High court upheld Duale’s re-election ruling that the MP was validly elected in last year’s general election.

High Court judge Hedwig Ongundi ruled that Maalim (the petitioner) failed to produce evidence of massive irregularities and illegalities in the Garissa Township election.

The court slapped Maalim with Sh6 million fine as cost for the petition.

On Thursday, Duale  filed an application asking the appellate court to dismiss Maalim petition on grounds that it was filed late.

Duale claimed that the notice of appeal was filed outside the required timeframe.

The National Assembly leader of Majority maintained that his re-election was free and fair.
