A man received a thorough beating by his father-in-law after he assaulted his wife. This happened on Wednesday at Manga in Nyamira County.
According to witnesses, the man identified as Moreru disagreed with his wife and beat her up on Sunday.
"Moreru beat his wife on Sunday who later fled from home to her parent's home. Moreru was summoned by his father-in-law to the home where he came with elders.
"The father-in-law didn't wait for the man to explain why he had to beat his wife. He descended on him with kicks and blows until it took the intervention of the elders who calmed the situation," said Henry Onchoke.
He said the elders who accompanied the man apologized to the wife and her family following the beating she received from her husband.
Area Nyumba Kumi officials Titus Oigo confirmed the incident and said the wife agreed to return to her husband's home after the elders from the man's side persuaded her.
"Elders who escorted Moreru were wise enough and managed to convince the woman's family to allow their daughter to re-unite with her husband who beat her up after a disagreement," said Oigo.
Oigo warned men against assaulting their wives saying they risk arrests and prosecution in a court of law.
