Residents of Keberesi village in Kenyenya, Kisi County are mourning the death of a ten-year-old girl who was stabbed to death by her father on Sunday afternoon.
It is alleged that the man only identified as Mr Onyuri stabbed the daughter with a kitchen knife after quarrelling with his wife who has fled from home.
Mr Andrew Osaso said that he heard the girl screaming for help and when he arrived at the home, he found the girl lying down in a pool of blood.
"I did not believe that Mr Onyuri could kill his own daughter just because he differed with his wife. I was shocked to find a knife still on her chest and raised alarm about it," said Mr Osaso.
The area Nyumba Kumi official Mr Stanley Oyondi confirmed the incident saying the man is a known drunkard in the locality.
"The suspect has been in fights with his wife for years now, we tried solving the matter in vain," he said.
The girl's body was taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
