Maseno University students have announced that they are going to cane their lecturers if they participate in the speculated strike.
Allan Murwai, a fourth year student at the school of Agricultural Economics while speaking to a Hivisasa writer, explained that the situation will be different if any of their lecturers decide to participate in the strike.
He noted that students will deal with any ftheir tutors who boycott class and demonstrate within the school;s compound.
"We are going to deal with them if they dare demonstrate in the University Premises. They cannot be calling off strikes when the Government has not sorted out their grievances then recall it again.
"They should deal with this issue once and for all. We want to learn, graduate and go start life out there. Let the lecturers be warned that we are going to cane them," he stated.
Other students from the Institution took to social media (Maseno Campus Politics Platform (CPP)), a Facebook group commonly used by students in the Institution where they conveyed that it will not be business as lecturers who conduct any demonstrations within the institution will be disciplined.
One of the students named Immaculate Acholla, warned the lecturers that comrades will take action against their teachers if they boycott class.
"I hear there is an ongoing speculation that lecturers will go on strike. If our lecturers dare participate in the strike we are going to line them up in the Graduation Square and cane them.
"You cannot be calling yourself a Doctor of Philosophy then call off strikes when your issues have not yet been sorted out only to recall them when we are settled and ready to learn. Comrades it's time to call a spade a spade and not a big spoon!" she posted.
Dr Destaings Nyongesa, a lecturer at Maseno University while speaking to a Hivisasa writer laughed off the claims adding that lecturers had the best interest of students at heart.
"We want the very best for our students. I would love to urge all the students to keep calm and wait for official communication from the administration,"Dr Nyongesa stated.
As other public universities embark on their semester two, Maseno University students are yet to complete their semester one as it was suspended due to the lecturers strike that lasted for a longer period towards the end of last year.
Most of the students complained of how the University was taking much time to complete a single semester as the end of semester one examinations that were scheduled to take place two weeks ago were postponed to a unknown date.
