Passengers travelling along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway were on Thursday evening left stranded after police officers arrested drivers for disobeying night ban.

Police impounded 13 vehicles in the crackdown leaving passengers to spend the night in the vehicles.

The vehicles were detained at Mwariki police station in Nakuru.

According to Nakuru police boss Samuel Obara, the drivers were operating past the 7 pm set time to close business for the day along the route.

Obara said police will not allow matatus to operate at night to avoid accidents.

“No one is above the law, PSVs and personal cars disobeying the night ban will be arrested and prosecuted,” said the police boss.

He urged PSV operators to work within the stipulated time to avoid frustrations and disappointments.
