Trouble started when a section of youths accused Matiang'i of belittling Chief Justice David Maraga over his persistent attack towards the judiciary.

For the entire weekend, the CS attended a host of fund-drives within Nyamira where he called for unity and harmony.

"I try to work within the law as enshrined in our constitution. My detractors do not look at the other side of the coin," he had said in Mwongori.

Residents heckled him even as he struggled to address the crowd, and he had to back down eventually.

Throughout his Nyansiongo trip, pro-Maraga slogans could be heard whenever the minister tried to communicate to them.

"We only have issues with his persistent attacks on the judiciary and arrogance. Let him respect other people," said Patrick Osero, a local politician.

Last week, Matiang'i and Maraga attacked each other openly as the debate on the independence of the judiciary took shape after Matiang'i' decision to forward three names of judges for investigations.
