Witeithie Ward Juja Area MCA Julius Macharia has spearheaded a project that helped 150 adolescent boys go through the rite of passage that took place at Varsity Aim Schools, Malaba.

Macharia said that the programme will continue and promised to support them in getting bursaries from the county government so as to help them do their studies well without any challenge.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Deputy President William Ruto and Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu for their financial support towards the exercise as parents did not pay any coin to facilitate their children,” said the Witethie Ward MCA.

“Witeithie residents had been facing a lot of financial problems and many people are jobless and most parents cannot manage to pay money for initiation.” Said Macharia.

He also told the residents that he will work with them and help them get a good supply of water as this has been a great challenge in the area.

Addressing the graduates, Peninah Kanyua Muguku, a lecturer at Strathmore University insisted on the need to instil discipline to those teenagers and said that they are living in hazardous times and if not careful, their good behaviours may be polluted by evil young men.

Kanyua singled out illegal consumption of outlawed liquor among the youth, foolish attraction to pornography and nudity videos which may cause boys to view ladies as sex objects rather than real women.

“Young men need to watch and control their hearts and minds. The pornographic materials they are addicted to having made them degrade women as sex objects. Women are not physical object as many boys perceive them to be. There is a need to mentor youngsters on social life to better their future,” said Muguku.

The boys thanked the area MCA for his great concern and said that the doctrines they got there will guide and help them shape their lives and be able to succeed in their education.
