If Nairobi governor Mike Sonko believed that making peace with the opposition by nominating NASA lawyer Miguna Miguna for the deputy governor post was a good move, he was far away from the truth.
The recent political shock has now landed the governor in trouble after a voter moved to court suing him for the nomination.
In his papers, John Waigi Migwi said that the governor chose Miguna against the dictates of the constitution.
"The nominee does not meet the relevant qualifications for vetting and approval to fill the vacancy in the office of deputy governor as he, not a Kenyan citizen nor a member of Jubilee party on which Sonko was elected," said his application.
The voter argued that Miguna was a criminal since he was part of an illegal political movement (NRM) and therefore was unfit for any public office.
In the last elections, Jubilee swept the seats in Nairobi although regions like Kibera remained strictly under the fold of NASA, a coalition that preferred ODM candidate Evans Kidero to Miguna.
