Already, the DP has met elected leaders from both Kisii and Nyamira Counties, a move that has lead to spirited push for unity calls.

In stopovers at Borabu constituency on Sunday, Omanga, who was flanked with Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, hinted a possible deputy presidential slot for Gusii region.

"We are solidly behind Ruto and nothing will stop us from championing for his presidency. He has shown an ability to lead us," she said.

"As leaders, it is time for us to unite the entire community so that we can go for number two slot. We have competent people like Matiang'i," she added.

Later this month, elected leaders from Gusii region would have a mega meeting in which unity talks are expected to dominate.

But increased presence of Matiang'i in both Kisii and Nyamira Counties has sent panic with political elites guessing about his next move.

"We now have numbers and it is time we push for one of our own to depuse Ruto,' Borabu MP Ben Momanyi said in  a past event.
