A group of youths in Kiganjo of Thika Town constituency are making a living from miraa business. The youths under the name Gangara Veve Baze group get miraa from various places in Embu before selling to interested customers in Kiganjo and Makongeni area. Speaking to the group chair at Kiganjo on Tuesday, Samuel Njeru, said that miraa business has helped them stay ahead of their unemployed colleagues in the area. "We normally get miraa mainly from various parts in Embu and the surroundings at a considerable low price. We can as well get them from individual farm owners," said Njeru. He added, "We then stack them here every morning where interested customers can buy."Njeru says that their main customers are Kiganjo residents which he says have gained popularity with local youths of late after banning of shisha and illicit brews. "A single bunch can go up to Sh50 helping us earn up to four thousand in a single day," said Njeru. Other customers, he says are those who want to use them in their small kiosks in the area so as to catch the attention of their customers. Njeru now urges other youths in other areas to exploit existing opportunities in their environs to better their lives."The proceeds that we get from here, we share equally and save a little for tomorrow. Let youths from other areas be creative and innovative and they will succeed," he said.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kiambu that you want Hivisasa to cover?
