The group of over 30 youth pelted the convoy with stones, shattering the windscreens of at least seven vehicles, the Nation has reported.

The leaders were on a tour of Likoni Constituency where they had gone to inspect a road site marked for expansion in Senti Kumi area.

The youth are said to have been protesting the county government’s plan to demolish structures built on the road reserve.

“They organised themselves and started throwing stones when they saw the vehicles which were together with those of the inspectorate department,” said a witness.

Confirming the incident, Likoni police boss Benjamin Rotich vowed to take action against the attackers.

“We have sent our team there to pursue these people. If they are occupying an area illegally they should be removed," said Rotich, as quoted by the daily.

Kingi and Mboko, who were forced to cut short the tour, were not in their vehicles when the chaos erupted.
