Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against sidelining youth and women as he makes cabinet nominations and appointments to the government. The former investigative journalist wants Uhuru to give youth and women first priority as he restructures his government.Speaking to journalists in Nyali Town on Monday, the MP said that young people hold the key to the country’s development agenda and should be given first priority in appointments.“We are disappointed as young people because we feel sidelined and abandoned by the president in regards to last week’s partial changes that he made to the cabinet,” said Ali.Ali said that a successful nation is one that empowers young people, women, and other marginalised groups. He appealed to President Kenyatta to ensure young people are fully represented in the government if he wants to leave a good legacy at the end of his term. The MP asked youth not to keep silent and fight for their equal representation in government, adding that unemployment will be a thing of the past if the government appoints young people to top leadership positions.President Kenyatta made partial changes to the cabinet on Friday last week and only retained six cabinet secretaries.Uhuru’s partial cabinet changes continue to elicit mixed reactions with claims of rifts between him and his deputy William Ruto taking center stage. The president is expected to make more changes in the coming days as he restructures his government after being re-elected for a second term in office. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
