CEO Dr. Wilson K. Aruasa said this is an effort to support government initiative of youth empowerment.
“We used to charge Sh3000 for internship and apprenticeship but beginning January 2, 2018, no student will pay for his or her attachment,” he said during the 7th graduation of MTRH College of Health Sciences where 352 students graduated.
“In 2019 we will be paying students on attachment a small stipend for them to meet their daily needs, we want them to gain experience and be empowered on the same,” he added.
He, however, said that the hospital has introduced new specialized healthcare services. He hopes that in the near future, the hospital will be in a position to offer kidney transplants, open heart surgeries, 24-hour orthopedics and trauma surgeries among others.
“We have also done massive infrastructural expansion of MTRH construction of 20-bed ICU, 45-bed Neurosurgery Centre, 2-storeyed kitchen/laundry, new classrooms for MTRH Training Centre, simulation lab, tarmacked roads, 200-bed Shoe 4 Africa Children Hospital, Chandaria Cancer and Chronic Diseases Centre(CCCDC), 40-unit new and modern Haemodialysis centre,” noted Dr. Aruasa.
