Two Mombasa veteran politicians have warned Governor Hassan Joho against his push for secession.

Former Likoni MP Suleiman Shakombo and former Changamwe MP Ramadhan Kajembe say that Joho’s push for secession will backfire on him.

Speaking to journalists in Mombasa on Wednesday, the two politicians asked Joho and other Coast politicians championing for the secession of the region to focus on service delivery and stop political sideshows.

The politicians said that secession is not a priority noting that the region needs urgent intervention to their problems and not separation.

“Governor Joho should sit down and serve people who elected him governor and stop engaging in political sideshows in the name of secession,” Kajembe said.

The former MP hit out at Joho claiming that the ODM governor is playing diversionary tactics for his failures.

The former ODM legislator said that Joho will not be forgiven if he fails to fulfill the promises he made to the locals.

“Our Coast politicians must desist from aimless talk and focus on delivering services to the residents who are suffering,” said Shakombo, former Likoni lawmaker.

The two veteran politicians urged coast residents to ignore secession and remain united. They also asked locals to shun politician advocating for hatred and incitement and support leaders who are development conscious.

Joho alongside some other Coast politicians have vowed to push for the secession of the region.

The politicians claim that Coast has been neglected and marginalized by the current and previous regimes and needs to separate.
