According to the residents, cartels have been given priority in processing of land titles.

The angry residents said the registrar officer Mr Steve Mokaya must leave the office for failing to deliver services to locals with integrity.

“Mokaya must go because even processing of a land’s search takes over 3 weeks but when cartels come to process the same, the office processes the search and other documents within a day. This is unacceptable and we are calling on Governor James Ongwae to intervene and ensure that locals get better services,” said Evans Mong’are one of the residents.

Another resident, Cayus Okeyo accused land officers at the county for taking bribes from locals so that they can process land titles yet such services should be given transparently.

“Land officers have been demanding to over Sh100,000 to process land titles for locals. EACC must investigate all the officers at the office and a legal action be taken against the officers who will be found corrupt,” said Okeyo.
