Leaders led by Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati claimed that cartels may plot to assassinate Matiang'i for bringing their dubious dealings down.

"We have seen ministers in the past being assassinated because they are working around the clock to bring down cartels and their dubious dealings. Matiang'i should be keen enough to ensure he don't fall into the tricks of cartels who may end up finishing him," he said.

He said Matiang'i is doing a commendable job destroying gambling machines and fake products in the country.

A Nyamira based Wiper Party Victor Swanya politician stated that Matiang'i good work is not pleasing cartels.

"Matiang'i is doing his job well but he should take care because cartels may be after his life. Let him go slow especially when eating in hotels and be keen on his movements in the country," he said.

He called on Gusii leaders to step up efforts and ensure no fake products are sold to members of the community.
