President Uhuru Kenyatta has been tasked to intervene on the construction of controversial Bonyunyu dam in Kitutu Masaba constituency.

Construction of the Sh5 billion dam kicked off amid protests from the local community which blames the government for lack of public participation.

"Time has come for Uhuru to come out clear on the project. We cannot have people displaced without compensation,' said Timothy Bosire, the Ex-Kitutu Masaba MP.

Last week, one protester was killed by the police with several others arrested and detailed at Keroka Police without charges preferred against them.

And with Jubilee leaders backing the projects, local leaders claim that the project should be halted to allow thorny issues to be solved.

"We need a communication from Uhuru as a custodian of government projects. You cannot force people to welcome the project when we have issues," added Victor Swanya, Wiper National Vice Chairman.

Over the weekend, area MP Shadrack Mose, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi and North Mugirango's Joash Nyamoko gave it a clean bill of health.
