Industrialisation and Enterprise Development Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed said people living on the 3,000 acres of land belonging to KPA should leave to pave way for development plans on the land.

Mr. Mohamed, who decried the high level of encroachment on the public property said those who invade on public land will be evicted.

He said the residents who have built houses and other structures in the Dongo Kundu land must vacate adding that affected families will not be compensated.

“Anybody settling on this land thinking they will be compensated is daydreaming. They came in just after we expressed interest in developing this area. This land will be reclaimed for whatever use the government has for it,” said the CS as quoted by the Daily Nation.

Mr. Mohamed said the government plans to develop multi-billion shillings projects including a special economic zone, an industrial park and a berth at a cost of one billion US dollars.

He said the projects will create employment for the youth and also improve the economy of the county by boosting regional trade.

The CS appealed to the local administration, community and elected leaders to support the projects that will benefit the locals and create more than 50,000 jobs.

“We want to do infrastructural development. Power and water have to be brought here. We are at a fairly advanced stage in drawing our plans and programmes. We will engage local leaders both at the sub-county and the county level to discuss the plans and progress,” he added.
