In his new position, the controversial MP will lead Jubilee and opposition lawmakers in reuniting the country following last year's divisive politics.

This comes in the wake of the famous handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta last month.

Speaking over the weekend, Kuria revealed he got the 'job' a few days ago when he visited Raila at his Capitol Hill offices.

"When I met Raila at his office last week, we discussed a lot about uniting Kenyans. He asked me to help preach unity across the country and I agreed," he said.

The second-time MP added: "He (Raila) insisted that I lead a process of devolving the handshake to both Jubilee and NASA strongholds at the grassroot."

To show his determination and commitment to the reconciliation process, Kuria on Saturday toured Nyanza region where he asked residents to put aside their differences and support the President and his foe-turned-friend Raila.

"I will not disappoint Raila and Uhuru in devolving the truce.I am going to effect this by starting with NASA strongholds,” he added.

The JP legislator spoke during a fundraiser at Odienya SDA Church in Rangwe constituency, Homa Bay county where he donated Sh1 million.

He was warmly received by the area MP Lilian Gogo and Homa Bay Women Rep Gladys Wanga among other leaders.
