Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega has shot bullets at Deputy President William Ruto saying that he should stop campaigning for 2022.
The MP asked the DP to assist President Kenyatta in ensuring that they fulfil the promises they made during the 2017 elections.
"It is so early to kick off the 2022 campaigns, what we should be doing now is working round the clock to ensure that what we promised Kenyans is fulfilled," he said.
He also applauded the handshake between President Kenyatta and opposition Raila Odinga asking other leaders not to question the move.
He said that it was disrespectful that some leaders were announcing that they were interested in taking over from the president yet he had not left office.
"Let all politicians work for now. For sure I know the DP will be our presidential candidate but he should stop talking about the 2022 elections," he said.
This was echoed by Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa who asked politicians to stop politicking.
He said that he was happy that both Mr Odinga and President Kenyatta had agreed to work together.
Last week the DP said that he had realised that some leaders were out to stop his presidential bid but warned them that they would not succeed.
