Mr. Keynan claims that the government is using the al-Shabaab issue to create a perception of an area badly hit by insecurity that it does not deserve any teachers' service.

"Where I represent is called Eldas, it is over 400km from the Somalia border but we have never heard of any al-Shabaab incident. But why are students being put through this or why are teachers taken out of this area because of something that happened far away along the border of Kenya and Somalia," asked Mr. Keynan.

About 3 weeks ago teachers demanded to be transferred to other areas after an al Shabaab attack claimed the lives of two teachers.

He further claims that since the attack by al-Shabaab that resulted in three deaths where two were teachers, the government has been discriminating the area in terms of education.

"Wajir county won't be used as teachers' recruitment centre. You Employ teachers then send them away within a short period of time.We demand that teachers are sent back and government offer them security." Mr. Adan said.

The lawmaker said that provision of security of a country is a sole responsibility of the government.

Therefore, Wajir should not be punished by the government because of one incidence when terrorism is a global issue.

According to Mr. Adan, al Shabaab killed only two teachers and he does not understand why this could go ahead to affect thousands and thousands of students.

"Providing security is the role of the government.Insecurity is everywhere In every country, even in  America, more than 16 students were killed just the other day." The legislator said.

"The government should provide education as it is every child constitutional right. Therefore, the government should be responsible and should make sure that every child is educated without any discrimination," added Mr. Keynan.
