Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai is the latest leader to question the recent truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Radio Citizen on Wednesday night, Mbai said the reconciliation had other hidden motives apart from the national cohesion objective being popularized.

He claimed that it was Raila's mode of acknowledging his defeat in the hands of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the concluded electoral season, alleging that the former Premier is banking on the reunion to save his political career after a 4th fall.

Mbai said the plan has since succeeded, but lamented over Raila's newly gained national respect and importance, observing that he has caused the nation enough trouble as a result of his defeat denial tradition, with the recent one being subjecting the nation to the October 26 presidential re-run.

''Raila's was a plan to save himself from the embarrassment of another presidential defeat and he has completely succeeded. He planned it in a good way to an extent that he is now being referred to as a statesman and has completely recovered from his latest disappointment,'' the Jubilee MP said.

He, however, noted that Raila has left casualties in the process, citing his National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka who are yet to acknowledge the truce.

''While he has achieved his wishes, he has left his colleagues in NASA suffering from his political activities and are now stranded,'' Mbai said.

Raila and Uhuru sealed the deal outside Kenyatta's Harambee House offices on March 9.
