ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi is said to be cautious about opposing Raila Odinga's planned inauguration, claims a senior ODM official.

As part of a wider succession plot, Mudavadi is said to have distanced himself from a radical opinion held by Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wtangula who wants the idea dropped.

"He is treading cautiously and has openly backed the idea. He is kin to win hearts of Raila support base across the country," the official said in confidence.

Already, Citizen TV intimates that Kalonzo and Wetangula have opposed the inauguration plan with Mudavadi believed to be in agreement with Raila.

And to perfect his plan, Mudavadi is said to be the brain child behind the idea of signing affidavits by MPs in recognition of Raila's presidency.

"He knows Raila's ability and has to closely work with him for the sake of his future. He came with the idea of MPs swearing affidavits in support of inauguration."

Political scientist Gideon Mamboleo says Mudavadi is at pole position to inherit Raila's support base due to his firm stand.

"When you're loyal to Raila, you earn respect from his supporters and that is not the case with the other two principals," he says.
