Angry residents of Nyabigege village in South Mugirango Kisii County on Thursday set on fire a vehicle which was being used by suspected robbers.

The residents claimed that the robbers fled when they realized they were being hunted by residents and abandoned the vehicle. 

“We could not leave the vehicle because the robbers were using it in readiness to commit crime in the area. They had attacked a trader and shot dead two security guards," said Amos Otundo, one of the residents.

He said that the burning of the vehicle should serve as a warning to other robbers. 

Mr Eric Anyega another local, said that it is time police become more alert and ensure that they deal with insecurity.

Kisii County police commander Hassan Abdi said that police officers were tracing the criminals. 

 "We believe they went into hiding in the neighboring Narok County but we shall catch up with them," he said. 

He askeed members of the public to volunteer infromation that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.
