Speaking to journalists in Athi River, Machakos on Tuesday, Muthama for the first time spoke on his absence at Raila’s fete, saying he was trapped in the same house Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi had been allegedly  put under arrest.

The former senator said Kalonzo was put under house arrest and could not live to attend Raila’s inauguration.

“I actually went out to get Kalonzo after he was getting late and I was locked in as well,” Muthama said.

Muthama said Kalonzo’s absence was not planned as it was speculated in the media.

He said the explanation given by Kalonzo for his absence was factual , adding that the former Vice President was committed to the swearing in.

“Kalonzo was mocked and called names wrongly because it is true that he was put under house arrest,” Muthama added.

Muthama, however, assured NASA supporters that Kalonzo will take oath as the People’s Deputy President.

“There is no going back and we will ensure he takes oath,” Muthama said.

Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula skipped Raila’s inauguration at the last minute.

The trio received criticism and condemnation from NASA supporters and politicians who labeled them cowards.

Kalonzo, however . says that he is ready to be sworn in as the people’s deputy president refuting claims that he is a ‘watermelon’.
