Speaking to journalist's in Kangundo town on Sunday, Muthama said that Miguna has an opportunity to advance his push for human rights and equality if he accepts Sonko's offer.

He said that the Canadian based lawyer is fit for the job and could make an impact in service delivery in Nairobi.

"My advice to Miguna is that he should take up the job if the assembly approves his nomination," he said.

Muthama hailed governor Sonko saying that by nominating Miguna, he is party to the unity pact signed between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga two months ago.

The former Senator also hit out at politicians castigating governor Sonko over his decision.

"Governor Sonko should not listen to critics if he wants to deliver his mandate as the Nairobi county boss," said Muthama.

Sonko's move to nominate Miguna as his deputy has continued to elicit mixed reactions across the political divide with a majority of Jubilee politicians unhappy with the decision and have vowed to block Miguna.

There are claims that a plan is in the offing to impeach governor Sonko even as more speculations indicate that the governor has fallen out with Jubilee party top leadership.
