Machakos County governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has directed the plight faced by people living in the vicinity of Konza city to influential politicians who he termed as fraudsters.

According to the governor, the 32 acres of land designated for the development of the modern techocity has been grabbed malicious and self-centered individuals.

Day in day out Machakos county residents living around the land set aside for the development of the modern technology city- Konza have decried oppression but their cries seem to be landing on dumb ears.

Barely a week since the Yatta Member of Parliament called on the government to restore the land to the locals, the Machakos County governor Dr. Alfred Mutua, speaking today (Tuesday) in Machakos town said that the controversial land has hugely been encroached by unimaginable people.

“Hundreds of individuals have been conned in a dubious sale of the land, with the fraudsters receiving over 50 million shillings.

According to the governor, key political leaders have a hand in deceiving the locals who, he said, sell off their land

“This 32,000-acre international livestock research institute land has encroached and that we now.  Want to assure residents that together with the national government we get to the bottom of this matter and we will solve it,” said the governor.

Konza residents have blamed the county government for not paying attention to their plight instead but instead give them hundreds of unrealistic promises.
