At a meeting on Wednesday, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka warned that Orengo risked breaking NASA if he accepted the new position.

"I want to urge my friend Orengo to be humble enough and decline the appointment. He should not go down the history as the person who wretched NASA," he said.

The ouster of Senator Moses Wetangula from the position has caused jitters within the opposition coalition even as co-principals summoned a retreat to address the matter.

But Kilonzo, a second term Makueni senator, adds that leaders outside the senate should stop debating the matter.

"I am ready, willing, prepared and interested to work with Orengo as the Minority leader. If you are not an elected or nominated senator, please keep off," he said.

Apparently, despite ANC and Wiper opposing Wetangula's ouster, both Kilonzo, Cleophas Malala (Kakamega) and George Khaniri (Vihiga), have all endorsed the move.

Among issues Wetangula is accused of include; arrogance, betrayal and inability to rejuvenate the opposition in parliament.
