South Mugirango's Sylvanus Osoro, in a commemoration message to his late father, said the circumstances could later shape his life.

While taking a meal at a Kisii hotel, he recalls, his father, then a teacher, would walk out to go for a long call. While on his way, the old man lost memory and would land in a bus stage.

"He seems to have lost memory and he landed in our bus station. He boarded the vehicle and left him in town without my knowledge.

"After taking off, he would relieve himself uncontrollably forcing passengers to alight. He was very sick, The driver spared him after he gave Sh1000 to be dropped home alone," he narrated.

By then, Osoro, the first term MP, was only 8-year-old. At the hotel, a good Samaritan cleared bills before he reunited with his father.

Despite challenges he underwent after the loss of his parents, including staying briefly in streets, the 31-year-old would later be elected to parliament in 2017.
