Periods don't often come at a convenient time and as a result, it might be necessary to shorten your period length for various reasons. For instance, if you're going on a vacation or simply planning to have a romantic getaway.

Without regard to your reasons for wanting it, here are some natural means you can use, based on your individual need, to shorten the length and pain of your periods.

1. Drinking Raspberry tea.

Consuming red raspberry leaves in form of a tea is a sure way of working on your lengthy periods.  Due to the leaves containing an alkaloid that allows the uterus to contract more powerfully and effectively during labor,this tea is an amazing uterine toner. It facilitates this in achieving less contractions, less effort from the muscles, thus leads to less cramping.

2. Drinking plenty of water.

You got that right, water. A lot of water reduces cramps and bloating during menstruation. However,  the has always been the question of how much water is enough?  Here is a little formula to help you figure out the appropriate amount of water to drink;

-Divide your current weight by two.

-Take the resulting quotient and drink that many ounces of water a day.

-If, for instance, you weigh 100 pounds, you should drink 50 ounces of water a day.

3. Eat lots of dark chocolate.

Who doesn't love chocolates?  Well, maybe you didn't just know that dark chocolate, with 60% or higher cacao bean, each day during your menstrual period helps to soothe cravings. Dark chocolate also contains antioxidants that boost serotonin (which helps in improving your mood).

4. Avoid too much salt.

However much crucial it is to your health,  too much salt might lead to bloating and retention of water. Roughly,  nutritionists recommend one teaspoon of salt per day.

5. Have sex or masturbation.

Having an orgasm is a sure way of getting through your periods in a short time. The extra contraction that takes place in the uterus when a woman orgasms, leads to faster shedding of menstrual flow.
