Police in Mombasa have launched investigations into an incident where a 43-year-old navy officer was found dead in his house at the Mtongwe navy base in Mombasa.Likoni police boss Benjamin Rotich who confirmed the incident said the navy officer identified as senior sergeant Charles Omondi was found dead by a neighbour who informed the police.Mr Omondi was found on his bed with a bible and two phones beside him on Saturday night.The police said his two children left the house in the morning while their father was still sleeping.The wife, who had traveled upcountry tried to contact her husband later in the day but he was not picking his phone.The mother then called the children and asked why their father was not receiving her calls, but they informed her that they had left him sleeping in the morning.She then told the children to ask one of the neighbours to go check on their father. The neighbour tried to wake him up but the Navy officer had died in his sleep.The police boss said a postmortem will be carried out to ascertain the cause of death.“We were notified that there was somebody who had failed to wake up after a long sleep.
