Construction of a multi-billion ultramodern Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret town will provide a major employment opportunity for hundreds of health workers across the country.

The Hospital which will be arguably the biggest health facility in East and Central Africa is expected to be equipped with modern medical facilities that will enable it to offer specialized treatment like renal care services.

The new structure will also consist of an international center for medical research and tourism.

According to the MTRH Chief Executive Officer Dr. Wilson Aruasa, once complete, the 4,000-bed hospital will employ at least 20,000 health workers."We expect to employ between 8,000 to 10,000 health workers when the first phase of the 2,000-bed capacity is complete. But once fully complete, we will need at least 20,000 health workers in various department to fully be operational," said Dr. Aruasa on Friday during the 7th graduation ceremony for the MTRH College of Health Sciences.Construction of the new ultramodern hospital on a 200-acre piece of land in Kiplombe, at a cost of sh28 billion, has been scheduled to begin in January 2018."Within 36 months construction works for the Hospital should be complete then we will relocate from here to allow the county government to take over the current hospital but we will still be giving support to them," Dr. Aruasa said.
