The sacking of Kisumu County Chief of Staff Patrick Lumumba Ouya for allegedly threatening to shoot Governor Anyang' Nyong'o is putting the County Chief on a collision path with Senator Fred Outa.
Ouya who on Tuesday was dismissed by Prof. Nyong'o after the drama that ensued at the Governor's office, is said to be Outa's right hand man.
The Senator who was part of Nyong'o's " Team Kali" campaign team that carried the day during the 2017 poll is keen on succeeding the Governor at the helm of the county leadership. However, the latest development may dent his own political ambitions.
It's claimed that Nyongo and Outa had signed an agreement in the Governor's succession race where the Senator is to take over from the former ODM Secretary General.
" Everybody in Kisumu knows that Nyongo and I formed "Team Kali" which delivered the victory. And we will not be party to adage where people use others to ascend to power and betray them," Outa was quoted by the Standard.
The Governor's head of press unit Alloice Ager has however downplayed that there is political bad blood between the two allies-turned-foes.
Mr Ouya’s sacking is an administrative matter which lies squarely in the purview of the governor. The governor is the head of the county government and is accountable to all the administrative and financial undertakings,” said Mr Ager as quoted by Standard.
