Siaya Senator James Aggrey Orengo has maintained that National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga will be sworn in.

Speaking in Kisumu shortly after Kisumu High Court’s ruling in a case challenging Kisumu County governor Professor Peter Anyang Nyong’o election in the August 8th general elections, Orengo said that Odinga will be sworn in because most Kenyans are calling for it.

“Raila Amollo Odinga is going to be sworn in as the President of the Republic of Kenya, and this is something that Kenyans are calling for,” said the senator who is also a respected senior lawyer.

However, Orengo did not indicate any timelines for the swearing in.

Senator Orengo represented Governor Nyong’o in case filed by former Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma. Ranguma claimed that Nyong’o’s election was maared by massive irregularities. The court dismissed the case.

Raila Odinga was expected to be sworn in on 12th December 2017 a few days after president Uhuru Kenyatta had been sworn in for a second and last term, before the plan was put on hold.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was sworn in after the Supreme Court ruled against two cases challenging his win in the October 26, 2017 repeat presidential election.

NASA boycotted the repeat elections, citing lack of a level playing field.
