Nyamira County governor John Nyagarama on Tuesday launched a head count of Nyamira County employees.
Nyagarama said the aim of the program is to get rid of ghost workers who may have been entered into payroll.
“We need to know the number of people working in the County because there are claims that some people who are not legally employed are being paid salaries illegally," he said.
He accused some County executive members for colluding with the County Public Service board to hire staff illegally.
“Officers who are giving their relatives false letters purporting that they have been hired to work in the county will be sent packing if found," he added.
The ODM governor also urged MCAs to desist from giving false hopes to electorates about employment prospects .
