Arama said he was ready to lose his ODM parliamentary seat for 'speaking the truth about Raila'.

“I am personally opposed to this referendum because wananchi, including those from Raila’s backyard, Kisumu, have told me they don’t want the referendum he is calling for. The wananchi say they are only interested in development of their counties,” said the MP.

Arama was speaking during the burial of Nakuru MCA Damaris Mbuthia, who was buried on Friday at Ol-Rongai near Kabarak.

Said Arama amid cheers: “I am ready to be expelled from ODM and go for re-election. In Nakuru, we want peace under the leadership of Governor Kinuthia Mbugua.”

He said President Uhuru Kenyatta has already sanctioned that 43 percent budget allocation to the 47 counties, contrasting Cord’s demand for a referendum.

“Uhuru Kenyatta has already fulfilled this demand. People should know that not all Cord leaders are asking for this referendum but rather some individuals in ODM and its affiliates,” said Arama.

Arama said he chose to speak politics at the funeral because the deceased was a political heroine of Nakuru County.

Among those present were Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, Vihiga Governor Moses Akaranga, Nakuru County Senator James Mungai, nominated Senator Liza Chelule, Rongai MP Raymond Moi, Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika, Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri and Nakuru County women rep Mary Mbugua.
