The Kiambu County department of alcohol control has seized illicit brew worth Sh12 million at a palatial home at Kahawa Sukari in Ruiru Sub-County.

Officials from the county also managed to impound Sh50 million fake currency papers used for printing fake money.Catalysts meant to fasten manufacturing of illicit brews; formalin drugs used in mortuaries, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stickers and other expired tablets were also confiscated during the raid.The officials who were acting on a tip-off from members of the public, however, did not manage to arrest any of the culprits involved.Addressing journalists after conducting the impromptu crackdown, Kiambu County Director in charge of alcohol control Godffrey Kaara revealed that the house had been rented by a lady identified as Roseline Wanjiku.Wanjiku is said to have separated from her husband a few months ago.“Rose Wanjiku who makes fake spirits in the pretext of recognized manufacturers had also turned the house into a fake money printing den,” said Kaara.Kaara thanked members of the public for their continued support in the fight against illicit brew in the area.The director said the crackdown against outlawed liquor would be heightened in efforts to make Kiambu County free of illicit brew.He asked Kiambu residents to be extra vigilant and closely monitor the activities that occur in posh houses adding that illegal manufacturers had now modernized their outlawed business.
