Speaking in Nakuru, Chief Administrative Secretary Ministry of Interior and National Coordination Patrick Ole Ntuntu refuted claims of pay cut to a section of police officers.

He clarified that whatever is taking place is only digitization which is part of the police service  reforms to ensure better environment for police officers.

"You have heard in a section of the media that the salaries of our officers are being slashed but that is not the case. The government is only digitizing as part of the reforms. We know the work the police officers do and I must state here that we shall do all we can to ensure our officers are in conducive environment," said Ole Ntutu.

While lauding the move taken by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nasa leader Raila Odinga to unite the country, Ole Ntutu said the country will focus on development.

He called on the residents to also support the war against illicit brew.

"As a government, we are focused on development but that cannot be achieved if we engage in illicit brew business. That is why we are calling on residents to cooperate with administrators in achieving this," he said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Rift Valley Regional coordinator Mongo Chimwanga who also warned administrators who relent in the fight against illicit brew.

"You cannot tell me that illicit brew will be a story every now and then in Nakuru East and Nakuru west sub counties...What are the administrators doing? This is the time to wake up," said Chimwanga.

He also warned those operating gambling machines that their days are numbered. The gambling business has been banned.
