It was a memorial match for Figueres who were celebrating their 100 years since their formation but found the afternoon sour and Olunga’s Girona too hot to handle.

Girona’s squad consisted of the side’s fringe players and the Kenyan was handed a place in the starting eleven; he made most of the chance by notching the opener before five more followed in devastating fashion.

Olunga got on the scoresheet against the third-tier Spanish club when he rose high to head home the opener in the 16th minute following a corner.

Olunga was again in the mix in the 34trh minute when he did well to combine with Douglas Luiz and Aleix Garcia to feed Choco Lozano who drove home his effort to make it two better.

Olunga lasted for the opening 45 before being replaced by Kevin Soni who went on to score a hat-trick.

Olunga’s loan spell at Girona expires on the first of September.

There has been reported interest from mid-table club Real Betis and Real Sociedad who are in hot pursue of his services after his exploits in La Liga with Girona where he racked up four starts and ten substitute appearances.

He excused himself from national team duty to sort out his future with the club with his parent club Guizhou Hengfeng Zhincheng expressing an interest to cash in on him.

Going forward, he will need to be in the best shape possible and continue finding the back of the net as many times as possible as that is what will keep him at the top of the game.
