Kisii County woman representative Janet Ong'era on Wednesday released Sh 5.7 million to learners through the Affirmative Action Fund kitty.

This will benefit over 1,000 students across the county. 

"We gave priority to needy students and the disabled because the money is meant to benefit them," she said.

Ongera said learners from poor families and disabled were given priority in the allocation of the funds. 

She also asked leaders who lost during the last general election to give those that won humble time. 

"If you lost in the 2017 elections it does not mean that people will not elect you in the next elections. For now it is advisable that you work with the elected leaders," he said. 

Ms Ong'era also said that her office was always welcome for everyone.
