After failing to ascend to State House in his fourth stab, NASA leader Raila Odinga is most likely going to hang his political boots before the next general election.

The former Prime Minister has in the past maintained that he will not be vying for President again and that the 2017 poll would be his last.

Should he keep his word, Raila, who will be 77 in 2022 will have have to anoint his heir in the ODM leadership succession battle between Siaya Senator James Orengo and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

However,  in the ODM hierarchy, Joho is the next in line after Raila since he is the party deputy leader.

His never-ending altercations with President Uhuru Kenyatta have made his outshine some of NASA principals and make him a formidable political force in the opposition ranks.

A key disciple of Raila Odinga, Joho is one of the ODM leader's trusted allies, something that has seen him host many NASA events in Mombasa.

To prove his trust for the fiery county chief, Raila attended Joho's swearing-in ceremony in August, the only such event that he attended among all NASA Governors.

Though Raila has remained mum on his next political move after dropping his ' swearing in ' plan on Jamhuri Day, many ODM supporters feel that it's high time he passes the baton to fresh blood and Joho could be the next man standing.
