Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi on Friday speaking at Sameta Stadium where he graced the Gucha Sub-County Athletics, said parents and teachers are at a better position to know the various talents children have.

“As a county government we are committed to ensuring youths with various talents are helped to earn a living from their talents. Parents and teachers should help the county government to identify the talents to be nurtured by the county government through the sports department,” he said.

Maangi said schools going children will balance between academics and sports because the new education curriculum is sports friendly since it ensures that the potential of learners is developed both academically and in terms of talents.

“Learners will have free time to participate in sports in the new education curriculum the government through the ministry of education has introduced. We need more people to venture into sporting activities to earn a living hence improve lifestyles,” he noted.

Maangi urged youths not to shy away and register with the department of sports in the county for their talents to be nurtured through necessary training and financial assistance so that they can represent the county in sporting activities in and outside the country.
