The second-term MP now claims his fellow legislators are always controlled by their party leaders.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Monday, Tiren who has been branded as a Jubilee rebel claimed MP’s always follow orders from above.

He gave an example of the slashing of the Agriculture sector budget by an alleged Sh10 billion despite his efforts to oppose the move.

“Parliament is no longer independent, MPs are always controlled and everybody knows this. When we go there we do nothing because we are told we need to follow what we are told,” said the MP.

“You saw what they did to me when I tried to be independent and vie for the Agriculture committee leadership so that I can fight for the farmers' rights,” he added.

The MP further hit out at other elected leaders in the North Rift region for remaining mute while farmers are subjected to various challenges emanating from government’s lack of seriousness in the agriculture sector.

“It is unfortunate that leaders in this region never speak of the farmers' concerns, they remain silent and are only vocal when politics comes,” he said.
