Party lovers in Uasin Gishu county are in for a rude shock after the police banned all kinds of parties during this festive season.

Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan on Wednesday issued a directive to the security agencies asking them to ensure no parties take place across the county.

Speaking in his Eldoret office, Hassan said the move was meant to protect students from being exposed to drugs and other banned substances.

"Most of this parties are always used to sell alcohol, drugs and other banned substances to students most of whom are underage and this is why we won't allow them especially this festive season when they are at home," said Hassan.

"Security agencies and relevant government officials must ensure this directive fully adheres to failure to which they will face the consequences," he added.

The county commissioner further warned bars and clubs owners against admitting children.

"The law is very clear that children are not allowed into alcohol selling places and owners of such facilities must be warned that if found they will be arrested and prosecuted," he warned.
